Master of Public Health / Master of Health Economics, Management and Policy

The Master of Public Health / Master of Health Economics, Management and Policy provides students with a practical toolkit, interdisciplinary skills, conceptual knowledge and expertise for emerging public health practitioners, healthcare sector leaders, project planners, managers and policy makers. This program strengthens the capabilities of healthcare system and public health workforce by addressing the current and future global health challenges and population health issues by a combined focus on health leadership, public health and policy and health system management. This combined degree program is designed to leverage students’ prior learnings and existing knowledge and aims to foster new skills that will equip our students to be effective leaders in the industry. They will be able to lead and conduct research and healthcare data analysis, plan and lead projects, evaluate programs and policies, engage with stakeholders and work on real world issues. Delivered by internationally recognised academics and experts, this program is nationally and internationally relevant and will enhance students’ capacity to engage in, improve outcomes and make changes effectively. The graduates of this unique combined program will have strong local and global, theoretical, applied, and varied skills, ensuring their ability to make a difference at community, research, organisation, policy and other levels.

The Master of Public Health / Master of Health Economics, Management and Policy will prepare its graduates for a rewarding career in many different areas of health, program or project planning and management, local councils and local health districts, government departments, education, medical supply and pharmaceutical companies, health insurers, regulatory agencies, integrated care organisations, and not-for-profit organisations as well as the opportunity to demonstrate specialist skills in research and professional practice in the fields of population health practice, health promotion, health management, research methodology or medical statistics.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Postgraduate Admissions: Students are required to have a completed bachelor degree in a relevant discipline.

Gap year Admissions: Students are required to submit a completed high school transcript to be assessed on a case by case basis.
