Certificate in Entrepreneurship

Whether you have a business idea or want to drive change in your workplace, the Certificate in Entrepreneurship (CENT) eight-course program encourages you to think outside the box.

Foster your creativity, drive change in the workplace, and master the business skills needed to bring your idea to market.

 This certificate is offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business. You may earn the certificate on its own, while pursuing a degree, or after graduating university.

If you are interested in pursuing a degree in business, the Edwards School of Business offers a Bachelor in Commerce with majors in: Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management.

Students who complete the Certificate in Entrepreneurship will:

understand basic business principles
be effective contributors to team performance
be able to incorporate ethical considerations into decision making and intended actions
be entrepreneurial thinkers
prepare a business plan for a new venture
During the course of the program, you will be working alongside students from other colleges and disciplines, making useful connections for the workplace after graduation. The Edwards School of Business is AACSB accredited, ensuring an international standard for the quality of your education.

Job Opportunity Potential

Though the Entrepreneurship certificate will prepare graduates to start a new venture, it will also give graduates desirable skills to apply in organizations large and small. Increasingly, business, industry, and government organizations are seeking employees who can demonstrate the strategic and innovative thinking that you will develop here.

You should consult with an academic advisor in the college when you begin your studies to further discuss your program options and goals if you plan on taking this certificate while pursuing another degree.

PSW Opportunity

Eligibility for Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP):
Graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
Desire to stay in Canada temporarily for work.

Important Note:
Graduating from a DLI doesn't automatically qualify you for a PGWP.

Validity of PGWP:
Depends on the length of the study program or the expiry date of your passport, whichever comes first.

Duration of PGWP Based on Study Program Length:
Less than 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials): Not eligible for PGWP.
At least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials), but less than 2 years: PGWP may be granted for the same length as the study program (e.g., a 9-month program results in a 9-month PGWP).
2 years or more: PGWP may be valid for 3 years.

Completion of Multiple Programs:
PGWP may combine the lengths of each program if:
Each program is PGWP eligible.
Each program is at least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials) in length.

Important Restriction:
You cannot obtain a PGWP if you already had one after completing an earlier program of study.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

At least 3 years of full-time study in an approved English-medium secondary program including Grades 10, 11, and 12, as well as successful completion of Grade 12 English Language Arts A30 and B30 (or equivalents)
Students from overseas schools offering a Canadian education system curriculum in English require a minimum grade of 65% on their Grade 12 English course(s).
At least 2.5 years of full-time study in an approved English-medium secondary program including Grades 11 and 12, as well as successful completion of Grade 12 English Language Arts A30 and B30 (or equivalents) with minimum final grades of 70%
At least 2 years of full-time study in an approved English-medium secondary program including Grades 11 and 12, as well as successful completion of Grade 12 English Language Arts A30 and B30 (or equivalents) with minimum final grades of 80%

If completion of secondary standing occurred more than five years ago, additional proof of English proficiency may be required.
