Bachelor of education (intermediate/secondary) conjoint with the diploma in technology education

The Bachelor of Education (Intermediate/Secondary) as a 2nd Degree Conjoint with the Diploma in Technology Education Program program is designed to prepare teachers of Grades 7-12, including technology education programs. Students complete a number of courses that address the development of basic skills and competencies in a variety of technological areas and how to apply them through design and problem-solving processes in a school classroom/laboratory setting. The program includes coursework, a two-week early internship and a one-semester internship placement. The program is intended for candidates who have already completed an appropriate bachelor’s degree.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

  •    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

  • must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

FOR INDIA 

Credential

One of the following is required:

  • Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • Higher Secondary Certificate
  • Indian School Certificate
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • All India or Delhi Senior School Certificate
  • Pre-University Certificate
  • Senior Secondary School Certificate

Required subject areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics1,2
  3. Laboratory Science1 (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
  5. Elective

Diplomas in engineering, technology or other specializations are not accepted in lieu of a 12th level certificate.

  • Students who are missing an eligible course in one of subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course.
  • Calculus is a required course in first year for business/commerce (St. John's campus only) and science programs at Memorial. To ensure students are prepared for entry into their chosen program of study, 12th level pre-calculus mathematics is normally required for admission to these programs.
  • The mathematics requirement may also be met through the College Board SAT. A minimum Math Test score of 500 is required for general admission; 550 is recommended for business/commerce and science programs as noted above.

General admission criteria:

  • Minimum average of 60% in the required subject areas, with a passing grade in each subject.
