BSc (Hons) in Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management

Supply chains deliver all our products and services that we consume – they also involve operations management, logistics, procurement and project management. It’s a growing, specialist area that is a key part of any business. 

The BSc (Hons) Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply and offers a future facing and integrated business education covering the main disciplines and operational areas of business, whilst focusing on supporting students to develop the skills and competencies required in a contemporary and future labour market. In addition with 3 years relevant work experience you will also receive free student membership to CIPS.

The overarching philosophy of our newly designed degree is to support and enhance progression, achievement and success, whilst challenging our students to become professional, aspirational and globally minded managers in a complex, dynamic economic environment. The course is a meaningful partnership between students, employers and the South Wales Business School, with clear innovations in work-based learning, assessment for learning and teaching and learning initiatives.

USW Pontypridd is surrounded by green open spaces. Our students say they love the community atmosphere, as well as the convenience of living and studying in the same place. USW Pontypridd is our largest campus and is made up of two sites; Treforest and Glyntaff.

A year out on work placement, undertaking an internship as part of your course, or studying abroad is another great boost to your CV which can help you stand out from the crowd. Whether it’s studying abroad or gaining work experience, our experienced team will help you find a placement, in an area that interests you.

You can spend up to a year in one of a range of local, national or international organisations or join a number of partner institutions across that world that provide access to study opportunities.You will also benefit from the established practitioner relationships the South Wales Business School has developed over the past decade. Typical placements include GE Aviation, Intel, Proxima, Lockheed Martin and GlaxoSmithKline.

Students on the BSc (Hons) Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management will also experience our Ignite programme. This is an intensive five day programme and is designed to take you on a journey towards becoming enterprising in your chosen domain; be this a business start-up, a social enterprise, the voluntary sector or within an established organisation.

The new BSc (Hons) Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management degree allows students to develop a range of highly important skills for industry including:

Careers and Employability Service

As a USW student, you will have access to advice from the Careers and Employability Service throughout your studies and after you graduate.

This includes: one-to-one appointments from faculty-based Career Advisers, in person, over the phone or even on Skype and through email via the "Ask a Question" service. We also have extensive online resources for help with considering your career options and presenting yourself well to employers. Resources include psychometric tests, career assessments, a CV builder, interview simulator and application help. Our employer database has over 2,000 registered employers targeting USW students, you can receive weekly email alerts for jobs.

Our Careers service has dedicated teams: A central work experience team to help you find relevant placements; an employability development team which includes an employability programme called Grad Edge; and an Enterprise team focused on new business ideas and entrepreneurship.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

India

Academic Qualifications

  • An overall average of 60 - 65% or above in the 12th Standard depending on which Board you have studied
  • Advanced entry to certain undergraduate degree programmes may be possible for students who hold a UK HND or India Diploma in a relevant subject.

Sri Lanka

Academic Qualifications

  • Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with higher grades of between 655-445 (this is equivalent to 112-80 UCAS tariff points) will be considered for direct admission to first-year degree programmes. 
  • Holders of the Cambridge GCE A-Levels will be considered against the standard UCAS tariff for each individual course for direct admission to first-year degree programmes.
  • Advanced entry to certain undergraduate degree programmes may be possible for students who hold an HND in a relevant subject.

Nepal

Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate in year 12 from CBSE (Central Board of School Education), HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate), NEB (National Education Board) or HSEB (Higher Secondary Education Board of Nepal) with a grade of 65% or above will be considered for direct entry onto an Undergraduate Degree.
  • Schooling certificate must be from Kathmandu - except for applications to study at the Dubai Campus where qualifications from outside of Kathmandu are also considered
  • Applicants who study the Edexcel or Cambridge A-Level curriculum will follow the normal UCAS tariff.
