Community Specialist Practitioner, PGDip

The course aims to promote the evolution of an adaptable, reflexive and responsive practitioner who promotes the highest standards of client health care. The course incorporates the key principles of specialist practice within the domains of clinical practice; care and programme management; clinical practice development and clinical practice leadership. The course comprises of 50% theory and 50% practice. Assessment methods vary and include: examinations, essays, presentations, business report, and practice assessment.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

55% in bachelor degree

70% in Year 12 English*
Or
70% average grade in Year 11 and Year 12 English provided Year 12 is not below 65%
Or
Standard English language entry requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

GCSE or O-Level English Grade C - Grade C

A Level English Language - Grade C

TOEFL iBT including Special At Home Edition - 88 (with minimum grades of 21 in each component)

UCLan Test of English Language Level (TELL) - Merit (75%) with no component below pass (65%)

Pearson Test of EnglishAcademic - 61 with minimum of 55 in each component

All applicants must have:-

An effective appropriate 1st level registration on the NMC professional in respect of the route they wish to take, as follows:

General Practice Nursing: entry on sub part 1: Adult - RN1 or RNA or Child - RN8 or RNC
Community Children's Nursing: entry on sub part 1: Child - RN8 or RNC
Community Nursing in the Home: entry on sub part 1: Adult - RN1 or RNA.
The equivalent of at least one year's post-registration practice experience.
Experience of practicing within a healthcare environment for a minimum of 18 hours per week (or equivalent part-time) clinical activity.
Hold the equivalent of 360 credits of which 120 must be at Level 6 (degree level) in a relevant Nursing Practice or Social Sciences related subject.
Have the commitment of your employer to support your course fees.
Your manager’s support for the course (where appropriate).
You are required to have a current DBS clearance which will be organised through your employing organisation.
