Through the support of the Victorian Government, we’re able to give our learners a hand in finding employment – while helping businesses source the best employees for their workforces. Services and resources are available for both individuals and businesses by contacting the Holmesglen Skills and Jobs Centres directly.

For Individuals 
Career counselling
Our career advisors can help you identify your career goals in line with your skills, strengths and interests. We help you develop a career plan and expand your understanding of the industry you wish to work in. 

Skills assessment and training advice
To be successful in any career, you need to have the right skills and qualifications. Through our skills assessment process, we can help you:

• Identify and clarify your existing skills
• Determine any new skills you may require
• Find the right training courses and study pathways
• Refer you to suitable course providers

One-on-one consultations
Through our one-on-one consultations, we give you the personalised support you need while searching for jobs. Following the latest Victorian Government Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice, consultations are currently offered by phone or online only.

Funding applications
We can help you apply for an exemption on the upskilling rule for Victoria Government Funding. If eligible, you could receive government-subsidised training (regardless of your existing qualifications).

Free workshops
We offer a series of free workshops to give you an edge in the job market. Following the latest Victorian Government Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice, workshops are currently offered online only. These include:
Workshop 1: The standout applicant - How well does your resume attract attention in a competitive environment? In this workshop, you’ll learn how to identify and present your strengths to prospective employers.
Workshop 2: Resume preparation - If you’re unsure how to write an effective cover letter and resume, this workshop is your chance to learn. The workshop also covers how to answer key selection criteria.
Workshop 3: The hidden job market  - Many job vacancies are never advertised. This workshop will help you learn how to look beyond the traditional job market to find these hidden opportunities.
Workshop 4: Developing interview skills  - In this workshop, you'll learn about different interview types and what interviewers look for in attendees. You’ll even get the chance to put your new skills into practice.

Work experience
Finding a job is hard – especially without any real-world experience. But how can you get experience if you don't have a job? To gain work experience, we can help you find and apply for:

• Volunteer work

• Professional employment programs

• End-to-end recruitment
• Screened candidates for graduate programs, internships, placements and work experience 
• Training options and pathway advice for upskilling your employees
• Latest information on government incentives, employment trends and in-demand skills

Civil construction skills uplift program
Funded to support the Government’s major infrastructure projects, this program provides you with the entry–level skills and knowledge necessary to gain employment in civil construction.

• Learn how to implement a Traffic Management Plan
• Receive training in skid steer and roller operations
• Obtain your White Card to work safely in the construction industry
• Eligibility criteria apply

MetroHub
MetroHub, our partnership with tunnels and stations contractor CYP Design and Construction, is the integrated recruitment, employment and training centre for the Metro Tunnels’ $6 billion Tunnels and Stations work package.
The Tunnels and Stations package of works will create 5,000 jobs including more than 500 apprentices, trainees and engineering cadets, all supported and facilitated by MetroHub.

MetroHub is working with Holmesglen Skills and Jobs Centres to provide priority job seekers with a gateway onto the project, together with professional development opportunities and specialised employment support.

As part of a government initiative, our Skills and Jobs Centre offers the following free services:

For workers in the automotive industry
Depending on your plans, we offer career transition advice, including:

• Career counselling before or after redundancy
• Upskilling or retraining
• Government-subsidised training opportunities
• Developing strong job applications and interview skills

For business owners 
Ex-automotive industry workers will bring many valuable and transferable skills to your business. And we can help you find them!
The Back to Work Scheme offers businesses that recruit and/or train a retrenched automotive worker an incentive of up to $11,000.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

• Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
• Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
• Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
• The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

• Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
• Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
• Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
• PhD students can stay upto 4 years

The following entry requirements apply:

• your entire academic record will be considered
• you may be eligible for credit transfer or recognition of prior learning in accordance with your previous qualification/s
• you must complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) test online. Applicants must contact 9209 5606 to arrange to sit the BKSB test.
• you must hold NMBA registration as an enrolled nurse prior to commencement if applying through a Diploma of Nursing pathway.

Applicants who have successfully completed the HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing, HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing or the HLT541607 Diploma of Nursing may be eligible to pathway into the Bachelor of Nursing with advanced standing and enter into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Nursing program.
