Computer Science BS

Our dedicated staff and faculty are committed to provide an innovative, academically excellent and diverse learning to our students during this time of pandemic. Our goal is to ease the transition from face-to-face to an online class. This short video lays out our plans and expectations for Fall 2020.

The Computer Science major provides students with an understanding of fundamental computer science concepts coupled with applied information technology skills. Students are prepared for careers in computing technology industries or for graduate program.

Why study computer science?

From communication to science to design, knowledge of computing is the key to new advancements. With this degree, you’ll have the ability to make people’s lives better with technology. You’ll also be joining one of the most in-demand and highly paid fields. Finally, by studying Computer Science, you’ll be trained to become a modern-day problem solver. You’ll break down real-world challenges and design the steps computers will take to find a solution.

Concentrations

Data Science Learn to apply machine learning algorithms and visualization techniques to gain insights from data.

Game Development Learn to design, develop and deploy both games for solving problems and fun games for entertainment.

Software Engineering Learn to design, develop and deploy large scale software systems that will run on a variety of platforms including mobile, cloud and other computing devices.

Network and Security Learn to design, develop and deploy network infrastructure that is secure and reliable.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Academic requirements

  • Equivalent of a 2.50 Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale in high school
  • High school diploma equivalent or certificate of graduation
  • Official high school transcript (official record of marks/scores/grades)
  • National test scores (if required by home country)
  • Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) credit are accepted but not required

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Undergraduate minimum scores: 

  • TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based Exam): 500
  • TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Exam): 61

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

Undergraduate minimum score:

  • IELTS Overall Band: 6.0

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE)

Undergraduate minimum score:

  • PTE: 45
