Master of Laws (by Research)

The LLM (Research) is designed for students from a legal degree background who wish to enhance their knowledge in specialist areas of the law. Students must possess a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor qualification, and use the flexibility of the LLM (Research) to investigate discipline areas in-depth.The Faculty of Law at Bond is a professional law school, with a strong global focus and connections. Our cutting-edge research focus provides you with the opportunity to deepen your research skills and knowledge in an area of law, benefiting from the expertise of Faculty Professors as well as visiting academics and professionals from across Australia and around the world.

The Master of Laws (Research) is a higher degree by research program awarded for completion of a 50,000 word thesis. The thesis represents a substantial and original contribution to the knowledge or understanding of an aspect of law and demonstrates the capacity of the student to carry out independent research at an appropriate level.

PSW Opportunity

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • The Master of Laws (Research) is offered to those with a professional law qualification (Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor or equivalent). Applicants are required to have at least a 65 cumulative percentage average.
