MSc in Clinical Oral Surgery
The Master of Science (MSc) course in Oral Surgery – Full time is perfect for dentists keen to develop their surgical abilities in areas such as bone and soft tissue surgery. It will equip you with the skills and knowledge to perform advanced oral surgery procedures competently.
The course aims to develop your knowledge and competencies in the diagnosis and management of oral and facial pathologies, simple and advanced surgical exodontia, soft tissue surgery, excision of lesions, oral implantology, bone grafting and endodontic surgery.
Taught by renowned academics and experts in the field, you will learn how to use advanced technologies through a range of innovative methods. You will be exposed to an intensive mix of lectures, seminars and practical workshops using piezo-electric techniques, as well as other contemporary ways of managing oral surgery cases.
Throughout this highly engaging and demanding course, you will receive education in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of medically-compromised patients, with a particular emphasis on contemporary practice, evidence-based principles and systems to ensure an optimal outcome for the patient and practitioner.
You will also have the opportunity to discuss with peer students from other courses for a multidisciplinary approach and develop sound judgement based on evidence.
Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, students with a General Dental Council UK registration will have the opportunity to treat patients who require oral surgery procedures in our state-of-the-art dental hospital located in the heart of Birmingham.
Teaching styles include clinical case discussions, close mentoring, chair-side guidance, and small group works that emphasise the importance of the evidence based clinical practice.
The programme concludes with the completion of a research project and the publication of a dissertation.

- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Copy of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), or equivalent, or other approved qualification in a cognate area
Letter of good standing or equivalent from an appropriate regulatory medical body, and
Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of professional indemnity cover

Our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
