The Story of Rancho and Reasons to Pursue a Creative Writing and Design Course Abroad

The day Rancho was born; his father decided Rancho would grow up to be a great Engineer. His father’s fixation with engineers began the day he first saw the lean-fellow, who built the village road, exit from a large white car.

His parents and teachers caught him drawing a cube or an elephant; sometimes he drew elephants in cubes.
Rancho, on the other hand, loved to draw during his lesson hours. Many a times, his parents and teachers caught him drawing a cube or an elephant; sometimes he drew elephants in a cube.

As Rancho grew up, things changed for him quite a bit. After completing his schooling, he realised his passion for drawing could be his career. Internet within his reach, it did not take him much to realise that his true vocation was within a creative space and he dreamt of pursuing a Design programme for higher studies. Top colleges of the programme were, however, located abroad and it would be herculean for him to tell his parents about his plans to study abroad the programme he desired.

Mustering enough courage, he spoke about his dream career and the passion he nurtured since his childhood. But when his parents asked him how his Design and Creative writing would help him in the future, he realised he did not think it through and hence, lacked a response.

It was at that moment, he was presented with two options: Either he goes for an Engineering programme in the vicinity or pursues an Engineering programme abroad.

Later that year, Rancho left to study engineering abroad. As the aircraft ascended, he looked out of the window and saw his childhood sketches and dreams take a rain check.

Such was the fictional fate of Rancho, but the gist of the story remains true to most engineers in our country. And to make sure it does not replicate in any real dreamer’s life, here are the reasons to go abroad to pursue a career in Creative Writing and Design.

Scope after studying

The first and the most primary reason to study creative writing and design abroad is the curriculum being highly updated as per the market needs. This not only pushes the students but also the academicians to stay up to date on what works in the industry and what does not.

As a result of this, the courses eventually channel the students to the field and help them get a job immediately after the completion of studies.

The Bonus Effect

Most universities abroad offers Major and Minor degrees. This can be a bonus for many who wish to study creative writing and design and at the same time pursue another course. Not only this gives them another field of knowledge, it also in many cases actually widens the horizon of the creative lot.

Birds of the same feather…

…be a part of a creative community of writers and designers and meeting people with similar interests, from across the globe.
In any field, going the extra mile, both literally and metaphorically, can always lead to pleasant surprises. To be a part of a creative community of writers and designers and meeting people with similar interests, from across the globe, the keyword here is exposure. A study programme abroad is an opportunity to join the multicultural universe and both learn and contribute to it. Not show off, but actually show the world what you have to offer.

From academicians, who are all mostly professionals in the fields of writing and design, to interacting with vibrant people who are filled with excellent creativity, your plan to pursue a creative writing and design abroad will take you closer to your dream, and beyond.
