Study a course that combines a rich selection of modules in the areas of food science and nutrition that will provide you with a solid grounding in all aspects food production and food systems and knowledge about the role of human nutrition in food production.

Drawing on the expertise of staff across the faculty, working in areas such as food systems, food processing, nutrition, product development, environmental management, sustainable packaging, food safety and quality management, chemical and microbiological analysis, legislation and standards, and ethical sourcing, you will be able to apply your knowledge to analyse real-world food and business problems.

You will also be trained in laboratory techniques and testing, enhancing sustainability and creativity, and addressing climate change within food chains, giving you experience that is vital for employment and postgraduate study. The course also focuses on the application of digital technologies.

This degree offers you the opportunity to gain a qualification and experience that will help you find employment in the food sector, potentially larger than the UK automobile and aerospace industries sectors combined, and which has a shortage of technically trained staff.

Medway Campus

Medway Campus has a rich naval history. Its red-brick buildings were previously a Royal Navy base. Nelson's flagship HMS Victory was built at Chatham's Historic Dockyard. The campus also has amazing cafés and bars, including those in Pembroke and Pilkington Buildings.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

 

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Academic entry requirements
For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, please ensure you meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of Standard XII with a minimum grade of 65%, obtained within the last two years.

For those seeking advanced entry into Year 2 or Year 3, the following requirements apply:

  • Completion of Year 1 of a relevant degree programme with a minimum grade of 60%.

Additionally, for certain courses, it may be necessary to have studied specific subjects during your school or college education to be eligible for admission. Our admissions team will assess your application to determine the relevance of your academic background once you apply.

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet one of the following English language proficiency requirements:

IELTS: Overall band score of 6.0 with no individual band score below 5.5.

Standard XII Waiver: Achieve a minimum of 70% in English from Standard XII. (Note: This waiver is not applicable to applicants from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, or Uttarakhand.)

For certain programs such as Psychology, Law, and Architecture, a higher English language proficiency is required:

IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score below 6.0.
