Study in France

The government heavily subsidizes French public universities. As a result, tuition is extremely low compared to other countries, especially for International students. Annual tuition fees for non-EU students studying at public institutions in France are about: • Bachelor's programs: ~ EUR 2,770 • Master's programs: ~ EUR 3,770 • Engineering, Grandes Écoles: EUR 5,000 – EUR 15,000 • Private institutions: EU 8,000 - EUR 30,000 depending on the program The cost of living varies from city to city. Students in Paris may need up to EUR 12,000 - EUR 15,000 a year, while students in some smaller cities may need between EUR 9,000 and EUR 12,000 a year. These costs consider housing, transport, food, insurance, and leisure.

In France, you will find over 1,500 programs available in English. France has many well-established institutions of higher learning that are also globally reputed, such as the Grandes Écoles, which allow students to receive elite education in business, engineering, and public administration. Students can also find a variety of technical, creative, or interdisciplinary courses and institutions in Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, and Nice, as well as across France. France’s education model, which emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and a balance of theory and practice, produces highly employable graduates.

Admissions standards will vary depending on the institution and the program. For programs delivered in English, students must demonstrate proficiency in English and provide their test results from one of the following tests: IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE. For programs delivered in French, students must grasp the French language through DELF or DALF certification. Some programs may also require scores from GMAT or GRE tests for courses in business or technology. Also, in design, architecture, and arts courses, students may need to submit a portfolio.

French institutions usually have two main academic intakes: September (Fall) and January/February (Spring). The fall intake offers a wider selection of programs.

The main requirements for the visa are a letter of enrolment from the French institution where you will study, proof of financial resources (~EUR 7,380 per year), and proof of health insurance.

When arriving in France, you must validate your visa. You will then be allowed to work a maximum of 964 hours/year. Suppose you complete the master’s programme. In that case, you can apply for work rights for up to 2 years after your study is complete, allowing you to search for a job and eventually apply for long-term residency.
