Vector-Borne Diseases (Certificate)

Emerging vector-borne diseases present a continual threat to human and animal health. Over the past couple decades, the United States has experienced the invasion and establishment of West Nile virus, introductions and range expansions of exotic mosquito and tick species, the emergence of Heartland virus, and increasing threats of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika viruses. The vector-borne diseases certificate provides a solid foundation in emerging vector-borne diseases, equipping students with the knowledge and skills for careers in fields such as public health, vector control, and epidemiology. Interdisciplinary courses allow for a tailored focus on applied vector control operations or virology and infectious diseases.

CSU’s Career Center is excited to partner with Parker Dewey to offer micro-internships to RAMS!

A micro-internship is a short-term project that can be completed within 5-40 hours, typically due within a week to a month. These projects require no on-boarding and can be completed by a college student with minimal instruction. These are important but low-risk tasks that can be completed either on-site or remotely.

Micro-internships are available year-round. It’s up to you to take advantage.

CREATE A PROFILE – Signing up takes less than 10 minutes – name, school, hobbies, and a few other things and you’re good to go.
SEE MICRO-INTERNSHIPS – Check out details on available assignments, including when they’re due and how much you’ll be paid.
APPLY – You decide which opportunities seem the most interesting – it’s a great way to explore different roles and industries.
COMPLETE ASSIGNMENT – Once you’re selected, work directly with the company. Do your best to exceed their expectations as it could lead to a full-time role.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Colorado State University requires that proficiency in English language be demonstrated either by the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE academic tests prior to admission. Please submit one of the official scores from the list below. Tests must be taken within two years prior to admission and submitted directly from the Educational Testing Service (select institution code: 4075).

The minimum TOEFL score for admission without condition is 550 (paper-based), or 80 (internet-based).
The minimum IELTS score for admission without condition is 6.5.
The minimum PTE Academic score for admission without condition is 58.
The minimum Duolingo score for admission without condition is 120.
