This APAC-accredited Level 2 program is designed for students who have completed foundational studies in psychology and want to advance their knowledge, research skills and professional readiness. Equivalent to a one-year Honours program, this graduate diploma in psychology is a key step towards becoming a registered psychologist in Australia.
Through advanced coursework and a major research project, you’ll build expertise in cognitive processes, developmental psychology, social psychology and psychological assessment – guided by leading academics and expert practitioners. You'll also gain practical research experience through world-class clinical training environments.
Upon successful completion, you’ll be eligible to apply for provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and pursue further postgraduate study, such as the Master of Psychology (Clinical) or Master of Psychology (Forensic), on the path to general registration.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have successfully completed an APAC-accredited Level 1 program within the last 10 years with a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 65.
Important notes:
- Admissions are highly competitive, applications will be assessed based on academic merit, students' preference nominations, supervisor availability and the School's resources. While meeting the entry requirements is a significant achievement, it does not automatically secure a place in the program
- Submitting preferences is an important step, though it does not guarantee allocation to any specific research topics
- The Graduate Diploma in Advanced Psychology program does not offer credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Deferment is not available for this program
