With the RMIT Bachelor of Professional Communication in Melbourne, you can choose either a double major or to specialise in one and choose three minors from our broad range of multidisciplinary areas. Majors include:
- Advertising – RMIT is ranked #1 in Australia and #5 in the world* in the 2023 QS rankings by subject
- Public Relations – the first PR degree in Australia, or
- Digital Communication – informed by RMIT’s world-leading research and our industry partners.
- The degree has been uniquely designed to integrate creative production, conceptual analysis and critical reflection with professional industry knowledge to produce contemporary communication specialists who are creative, socially aware and multi-skilled.
Your educational journey begins with a solid foundation through our carefully crafted introductory block, ensuring you make informed choices as you advance in the program. From there, you have the flexibility to specialise in a single major, Advertising, Public Relations or Digital Communication, or expand your expertise with a double major. You will also select from a diverse array of minors that align with your career aspirations.
Throughout the degree, students are equipped with the valuable knowledge and skills to stay at the forefront of industry developments and thrive in the ever-changing landscape of professional communication practice.
At the end of the degree, the portfolio of work that you create will demonstrate your capacity to produce, operate and innovate in a range of industry sectors. - Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- You must have successfully completed a qualification recognised by RMIT as equivalent to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) with a minimum average of 65%.
