Graduate Diploma of Information & Communications Technology
The Graduate Diploma of Information & Communications Technology is a standalone qualification for professionals who wish to extend and update their knowledge in the space of ICT applications, their use, management and integration in business. This qualification offers non-ICT graduates a path to pursue a career in IT.
Program Rationale
The students in Graduate Diploma of Information & Communications Technology will gain a comprehensive understanding of the techniques and practicalities of the information systems development process and will also provide a broad understanding of ICT applications. The students in this program will obtain the knowledge to successfully design, implement and manage issues involved in the application of Information Technology. Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent.
Successful completion of a Graduate Certificate (or equivalent) in similar discipline from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent
Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate programs.
Completion of a relevant postgraduate preparation program
English Language Proficiency
Graduate Programs
A current (within two years of test date) International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of 6.5* or higher with no band lower than 6.0; or
Successful completion of an approved English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course;
(Other acceptable test scores in PTE, CAE and TOEFL as mentioned in Section b below)
If the admission applicant’s IELTS test result is older than two years, to prove their required English language competency, the admission applicant may sit for an English language test conducted by an Australian ELICOS provider.
Undertaken higher education (tertiary) studies in English
i. a successful completion of (of all subjects) one year of full-time tertiary study in one of the following English-speaking countries:
American Samoa, Australia, Botswana, Canada (excluding Quebec), Fiji, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia or Zimbabwe.
If students have completed studies in a different country, they can prove their proficiency through satisfactory achievement in:
i. a three-year undergraduate degree, or
ii. one-year of a postgraduate degree conducted entirely in English, including all teaching, assessments, and examinations.
The above studies must be undertaken in English within five years of the date students will commence their course
