Corporate Law, Computing and Innovation - LLM, MSc

The Programme provides you with knowledge in areas of law needed in a corporate, banking and finance, and law firm environment, as well as computing fundamentals in software development, data science and business intelligence.

Created in response to demands from industry, and with significant input from major global banking, legal, and consulting firms, the Corporate Law, Computing and Innovation programme at Ulster University provides you with a unique opportunity to learn from seasoned industry experts across disciplines. It presents an exciting, first-of-a-kind partnership between the School of Law and the School of Computing, Engineering, and Intelligent Systems.

The fields of law and technology need transdisciplinary experts who can work within different teams at law firms, tech companies, government, and civil society. As technology becomes a bigger part of our lives, firms look to adopt it, tech companies grapple with existing laws, and lawmakers scramble to regulate it. People who can comfortably sit at the intersection of business, law, and technology are needed and sought after. Those who complete the Course will have opportunities for careers in law and legal practice across industries, consulting, banking, and technology firms.

Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Law, Computing & Innovation
Candidates who complete a total of 120 credit points taught modules will have the option to exit the programme with a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Law, Computing & Innovation.

Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate Law, Computing & Innovation
Candidates who complete a total of 60 credit points in taught modules will have the option to exit the programme with a Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate Law, Computing & Innovation.

LAW767 Intellectual Property and Legal Innovation (20 credits) is a compulsory module on the PGC. Students have the option to choose between 2 of the following 3 taught modules:
LAW558 Professional Software Development (20 credits)

LAW712 Corporate Law (20 Credits)

LAW768 Derivatives and Financial Markets (20 credits)

The LLM/MSc is also the ideal platform for advanced research, including Doctoral study in Law or Computing.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for a postgraduate degree course, you must provide evidence of competence in written and spoken English (GCSE grades A-C or equivalent); AND hold an Honours degree (2:2 or above) from a UK or Republic of Ireland or from the Council for National Academic Awards, the National Council for Educational Awards, the Higher Education and Training Awards Council, or from another institution which has been recognised by the Senate for this purpose.

Usually the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.5 (with no band score of less than 6.0).
