MSc in Clinical Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry
The Master of Science course in Clinical Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry will give you the crucial core skills needed to stand out in this specialist area of practice. You will follow extensive training so you can reliably plan the aesthetic outcome of the most challenging of restorative cases.
Teaching encompasses prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, implantology, cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics. It encompasses a range of restorative competencies including pink and white tissue aesthetics, along with diagnostic tools, wax-ups, composite resins and the use of advanced IT technologies in the science of smile design. You will study anatomy, physiology, histology and pathology of the dental and oral tissues, occlusion, epidemiology and prevention of dental caries and tooth wear, properties of dental materials, and radiology, infection control and audit in relation to restorative dentistry.
As part of the course, you will be exposed to advanced and unique training, benefiting from the experience of treating simulated patients in state-of-the-art facilities at our Dental Hospital in central Birmingham.
Taught by renowned academics and experts in the field, you will learn how to use advanced technologies through a range of innovative methods. You will be exposed to an intensive mix of lectures, seminars and practical workshops using advanced Kavo teacher-assist technology, as well as other contemporary ways of managing restorative patients.
We ensure you receive a well-rounded and robust education through in-depth seminars and interactive problem-based scenarios that require knowledge, clinical skills and proficiency level, with a multidisciplinary approach in order to achieve a safe evidence-based treatment and high patient satisfaction.
You will also have the opportunity to discuss with peer students from other courses for a multidisciplinary approach and develop sound judgement based on evidence.
Students enrolling in the Clinical course will be required to perform restorative procedures on patients as part of the Advanced Clinical Practice Modules 1, 2 and 3.
Teaching styles include clinical case discussions, close mentoring, chair-side guidance, and small group works that emphasise the importance of the evidence based clinical practice.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Copy of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), or equivalent, or other approved qualification in a cognate area
Letter of good standing or equivalent from an appropriate regulatory medical body, and
Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of professional indemnity cover

Our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
