BSc (Hons) Psychology (Sport & Exercise) with Foundation Year
A foundation year helps you develop the study skills and self-confidence needed for higher education when you don’t reach the entry requirements for your subject.
Psychology seeks to understand human thoughts, emotions and behaviour through scientific study such as observations, interviews, experiments and questionnaires. Our degree gives you the chance to study a fascinating subject, within the specific contexts of sport and exercise, whilst offering you many opportunities for future development and employment.
On successful completion of the foundation year you can progress to the Psychology (Sport & Exercise) degree where you'll cover all the core areas of psychology: biological; cognitive; developmental; individual differences; social; conceptual and historical issues, and research methods.
During the course, you'll have a ‘consultancy’ and ‘research’ informed experience whereby you'll participate in activities linked to our consultancy unit, SportsLab, which provides scientific services for national and international athletes aiming to compete at the highest standards.
Our degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), this ensures that the course is of the highest quality and will give you the opportunity to gain the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership and begin the process of becoming a Chartered Psychologist. PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
FOR INDIA
- Successful completion of standard 12 th with 60% average and one further year of study.
FOR BANGLADESH
- Polytechnic Diploma (BTEB) with a final grade of at least 65%
- Bachelor of Arts, Science or Commerce (Pass) awarded after 3 years of study with a minimum final grade of at least 60% or a GPA of 3.0/4.0
FOR PAKISTAN
- Intermediate Certificate/Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) - Students from Pakistan having completed school level education only will be expected to take IFC or IFY pathways as appropriate
- 2-year Bachelor of Arts/Science/Commerce (Pass) from an HEC accredited institution with a minimum final grade of at least 60%/First Class
- 3-year Bachelor of Arts/Science/Commerce (Honours) from an HEC accredited institution with a minimum final grade of at least 60%/First Class
- Bachelor of Technology (Pass) from an HEC accredited institution with a minimum final grade of at least 60%/First Class.
FOR NEPAL
For entry into Year 1 of Bachelor's degrees (Level 4), you will typically need to have one of the following:
- a recognised International Foundation course from a UK institution following a validated UK syllabus. Entry requirements vary but we normally ask for between 60% and 65%<
- British Board A Levels or IB Diploma.
