The Master of Nursing Science is a post-registration master's program, designed for registered nurses seeking to fast-track career progression in leadership, management, education and research positions such as Nurse Managers, Directors of Nursing, Nurse Educators, and Nurse Researchers.
This dynamic coursework program equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in healthcare leadership and innovation, research methods, as well as advanced nursing practice and teaching and learning. The final component of the program is a dissertation providing you with an opportunity to undertake a small-scale research project.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Nursing Science you must have:
- A recognised Bachelor of Nursing degree (or higher); AND
- Current or temporary, unrestricted registration as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or the professional registration body in your country of origin; AND
- A minimum of 1 year full-time (or equivalent) experience as a registered nurse.
Degrees from overseas institutions must be assessed as equivalent to a recognised Australian accredited qualification.
A higher qualification refers to a qualification at a higher level than a Bachelor qualification, which includes any of the following: Bachelor Honours Degree; Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters Degree, MPhil or PhD.
