Bachelor of Cinematic Arts (Honours)
This Honours program provides a fourth year of study for students who have completed a bachelor degree in a relevant field of game design and production, animation or film.
This is a research-led program for students passionate about advancing their discipline and exploring the limits and intersections of narrative art, cinematic storytelling, and interactive digital media. Offering an intensive study of the theoretical, technical, and creative aspects of the cinematic arts, it delivers a strong emphasis on developing a comprehensive understanding of applied research methods and practices.
Working independently and/or collaboratively, you will have the opportunity to concentrate on a specialisation within the rapidly evolving and converging fields of animation, film/screen media, and game design. Engage in research, critical analysis, and practical experimentation culminating in an original research project.
Synthesising your learning into a meaningful contribution to the cinematic arts, this Honours program creates a pathway for you to move into research and higher degree studies.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Cinematic Arts (Honours) program, applicants must:
- have achieved a grade point average of at least 5.0 in their undergraduate degree
- have negotiated one supervisor who is available and willing to facilitate the student's requirements
- confirm (prior to application) that their chosen project can be conducted within the appropriate concentration area - that is, check the availability of resources, supervision etc
- submit a proposal outlining the nature of the Research Project they wish to undertake
- applicants are required to present a current folio of their most outstanding work.
