Bachelor of Science Applied Biology Concentration in Environmental Biology
The Environmental Biology concentration of the B. S. in Applied Biology focuses on courses in biology, chemistry, geology, and math, to name a few, that better prepare you for careers related to sustaining the environment and wildlife protection.
Through a unique opportunity at Miami University Regionals, Skylar Gries, was able to explore career prospects and even secure an internship that led to the job of his dreams as a naturalist aide with Hueston Woods State Park.

Job Opportunity Potential
Applied Biology employers include zoos, environmental consulting firms, and agencies such as the US Fish & Wildlife Service, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the Butler County MetroParks. Students are also prepared to attend graduate or professional schools.
PSW Opportunity
Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.
Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).
STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
First-year students generally need a state-certified high school diploma or equivalent. They also typically need to have completed four years of English, math, natural science, and social studies in high school, along with a year of fine arts. Transfer students need a minimum GPA of 2.0 in college courses.
