Acting for Film & Television - Diploma
If you are passionate and dedicated to the serious study of acting, this is the program for you: a one-year conservatory program designed specifically to both challenge and nurture the aspiring actor.
Study directly with some of the best professionals in the industry, for 30 hours of class per week. Our students receive the most intensive practical training in Acting for Film, Television and Voiceover in the country.

The William Davis Centre for Actors' Study at VanArts has a strong team of experienced professional actors working directly with you to prepare you for the world of acting in the film and television industry. This is one of the most intensive acting programs - best suited if your desire is to push yourself and your skills to the highest level of creativity and professionalism. You will receive personal mentoring, small class sizes to ensure individual attention and focus, and the opportunity to collaborate with other faculties in photography, visual effects and animation production.

PSW Opportunity
If your program was less than 8 months
- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
1. Portfolio (or Audition)
12 pages of your best artwork. 5 pages should include sketches of characters in sequential action poses. The other pages may include life/figure drawings and location/object sketches (showing an understanding of form and perspective).
2. Letter of Intent This is a one-page personal statement that answers the following questions:
– What is your educational and/or work background
– What are your career goals and what are you passionate about
– Why have you chosen this specific program at VanArts
3. Photo ID (photocopy of passport to confirm date of birth & citizenship).
4. English Proficiency.
