Bachelor of Science (Honours)
Course structure
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) requires students to complete units of study to the value of 100 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
Course description
The course is divided into various strands which allow student to focus on their specific discipline. Lectures and, in particular, the research component of the honours degree are expected to focus on that specific discipline.

- biochemistry
- biotechnology
- chemistry
- environmental science
- physics - *Note this major has an earlier commencement date of 24 February 2020
Course learning outcomes
At the completion of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) course, graduates will be able to:
- demonstrate advanced understanding of the methods and processes of science as a creative endeavour
- demonstrate the ability to critically analyse a challenging, complex or multifaceted problem, identify research questions, design and plan a project, complying with any regulatory frameworks and practicing professional ethics
- select and apply practical and/or theoretical techniques or tools to address a research question
- integrate research findings with the current body of disciplinary knowledge/paradigms and demonstrate the potential to make original contributions to scientific knowledge
- communicate scientific ideas and research findings to informed professional audiences using a variety of modes
- demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, well-developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent.
- You need a minimum of 65% in Year XII (only the main subjects plus English will be considered).
- Punjab and Haryana State Board Students need a minimum of 85% in class 12 to qualify in any course.
