Bachelor of Education - Concurrent Teacher Education (Junior/Intermediate (Grades 4-10)

These programs focus on grades four to ten, with an emphasis on elementary school.

You may pursue one of the following options:

1. Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies (Honours)/Bachelor of Education: In this flexible program, you may choose a teachable subject in Dramatic Arts, English (first language), French (second language), Geography, History, Mathematics, Music (vocal), Science — General or Visual Arts. Education-related courses are required throughout the program and field experiences begin in second year. 

2. Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Arts and Science (Honours)/Bachelor of Education: Focus on the future as you learn to integrate digital technologies into the classroom. During this six-year program, you’ll complete collaborative projects with other students while immersing yourself in interactive media, including makerspaces, augmented/virtual reality, 3D modelling/printing, video games and more. Participate in field experiences to gain practical experience, learning from school and industry experts. Choose from a teachable subject in Dramatic Arts, English (first language), French (second language), Geography, History, Mathematics, Music (vocal), Science – General, or Visual Arts.

3. Bachelor of Physical Education (Honours)/Bachelor of Education: In six years, you’ll complete an Honours degree in Physical Education as well as a Bachelor of Education degree. Your teachable subject will be health and physical education, and you will also be take courses in Child and Youth Studies and Education. 

4. Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies (Honours)/Bachelor of Education: Choose a teachable subject in Geography, Mathematics or Science — General to complete this six-year program. Upon completion, you will receive a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies and a Bachelor of Education simultaneously.

St. Catharines Campus

St. Catharines campus of the Brock University houses around 2,500 students in 8 residence complexes. Also, the institution has a campus in the city named Hamilton in Ontario. It has a gymnasium, board room, instructional resource center, library, large classrooms, modern computer labs, faculty office space, conference facilities, food services, and green spaces.

If your program was less than 8 months

  •    You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

  •    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

  • must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

General admission requirements:

  • Senior Secondary school credential appropriate for entry to university in your home country;
  • Academically rigorous grade 12 year
  • Minimum B- average (higher for some programs);

  • Applicants should consider additional prerequisite requirements for entry to first-year courses in intended teachable subjects. For example, if intending to register in Year 1 Chemistry, applicants should consider completing SCH4U in Grade 12.
