Data Science MSc

The MSc Data Science at Aston University gives you an advanced, research informed understanding of data science, combining rigorous theoretical foundations with extensive practical experience. You will explore data analysis, machine learning, statistical modelling, neural networks and modern data science tools, learning how to apply them creatively to solve complex real world problems across multiple sectors.

Get familiar with Aston Futures, our online portal where you can search for careers events, view and apply for jobs and book appointments with members of the team.

It's really easy to use. Just log in with your usual student login details, answer a few questions to set up your profile, and away you go.

We have a jam-packed programme of webinars covering a range of topics to help you prepare for your future.

Some of our online sessions are led by companies, while others are run by our very own Careers and Placements team.

Use our online resources
If you're currently exploring ways to gain work experience, land a placement or secure a graduate role, it's important to be as prepared as possible for the process ahead. To help you get there, our resource library is packed with information on everything from drafting your first CV to nailing an assessment centre.

We also subscribe to a range of online tools that'll help you prepare for a psychometric test or video interview – practice makes perfect, after all! In addition, we’ve collated some useful online resources around working from home. 

Book a virtual appointment
You can book a virtual appointment with a member of the team using Aston Futures. The team are still available during our usual opening hours!

We do experience high demand for appointments, so we'd recommend checking out the resources on our website, using our online tools, or attending one of our events in the first instance. 

Practice your video interview skills
The employers we work with are doing more and more video interviews – for obvious reasons. Video interviews can be awkward and scary, but it doesn't have to be that way. The more you practice, the more comfortable you become. We've got a host of online tools to help you get prepped.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

One of the following:

  • 2:2 (lower second-class honours) degree or equivalent in mathematics, statistics, computer science or engineering
  • 2:2 (lower second-class honours) degree or equivalent in a non-computing related subject with evidence of mathematics and programming foundations knowledge (i.e., transcript showing mathematics or programming grades at UK 60% or higher)
  • Equivalent overseas degree recognised by Aston University.
