Technical Communication - Ontario College Graduate Certificate
This eight-month graduate certificate program offers practical experience for a career in technical, scientific, and computer-related communication. Today’s technical communicators are professionals who create technical content, develop user assistance, design websites, design and deliver corporate training, explain computers and technology to users, create multimedia materials, and develop support systems for consumer products.
You will learn technical writing and editing, graphic and web design, user experience, content strategy, and instructional design. Courses cover the skills necessary to adapt to emerging technologies and launch your career as a professional immediately upon completing the program. You will gain hands-on experience through optional work placement under an employer committed to helping you meet your learning goals.

On-campus Jobs
You can help finance your studies by working at a part-time job on campus at Seneca. If you’re enrolled full time for the term and demonstrate financial need on your Work Study application, you may qualify for the Work Study program.
PSW Opportunity
If your program was less than 8 months
- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Ontario university/college degree, college diploma, advanced diploma or equivalent
- Applicants with a combination of partial postsecondary and/or three years relevant work experience that is the equivalent of the above may be considered. A relevant resume and references must be provided.

- Second class /division degree result with minimum overall average of 55%
- No more than 4 backlogs

- A bachelor’s degree from a university or college. This may include the official degree certificate or a provisional degree, or an official letter of graduation stating that you have successfully completed the degree
- Official transcript. This must include a yearly or semester-based mark sheet. If it is a consolidated transcript, a backlog summary must be included
