LLB Law with Human Rights
Engage in a discourse on human rights law, informed by thinking on rights from political, sociological, philosophical, economic and historical perspectives. You are presented with the theoretical foundations, substantive knowledge, and evaluative tools for you to understand and respond to national, regional, and international legal and political developments.
Our LLB Law and Human Rights develops your critical awareness of the nature of law within its social, political, sociological, philosophical, economic and historical contexts.
At Essex we are actively engaged in debates about the meaning of justice in the UK and beyond. Our Human Rights Centre is a recognised international leader. Through our work with the United Nations, governments, human rights organisations and corporations all over the world, we bring a global outlook to our teaching.
As a law and human rights student, not only will you learn legal rules, but you will also consider the function of law in society, the philosophy of law, policy issues and law reform. You study topics including:

PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
FOR INDIA
- Most of our Undergraduate Bachelor degree courses will consider an average of 60% from the best four subjects from Indian high school qualifications. If you achieve 70% in English from CBSE or CISCE exam board qualification, you will not normally require a separate English language test score.
FOR BANGLADESH
- Previous university/college study is required in addition to local high school qualifications for our Undergraduate Bachelor degree courses. We accept a number of international qualifications, including the International Baccalaureate with the majority of our courses requiring grade 30 or above, or the SATR with the majority of our courses requiring a minimum of 1100 out of 1600 with 550 in each test.
FOR NEPAL
- Previous university/college study is required in addition to local high school qualifications for our Undergraduate Bachelor degree courses. We accept a number of international qualifications, including the International Baccalaureate with the majority of our courses requiring a grade 30 or above or the SATR with the majority of our courses requiring a minimum of 1100 out of 1600 with 550 in each test.
