Bachelor of Business (Event management)

Develop solid foundations in modern business with La Trobe's Bachelor of Business.

In this flexible degree, you'll explore all our business disciplines in your first year before choosing from one of ten majors. You'll also have the option to pair your major with complementary study from another discipline through minors and optional second majors.

By completing La Trobe's Bachelor of Business, you will:

  • gain real-world experience with industry leaders through internships and work placements
  • fit study around your life with the flexibility to study online, on campus or a mix of both, with four majors available to study online, alongside open access majors and minors
  • develop a blended fundamentals and technical skillset in leadership, communication, critical thinking, digital literacy, business structures, modern business software, business strategies and more
  • choose from one of ten majors: agribusiness, digital business, economics, event management, finance, human resource management, international business, management, marketing, and tourism and hospitality
  • depending on your choice of major, graduate ready to apply for accreditation with the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) or Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).

Melbourne Campus

La Trobe’s Melbourne Campus combines parkland beauty with a vibrant campus culture filled with cafés, shops and a multi-level library. It’s also one of Australia’s largest university campuses. The Marketing major available within the Melbourne (Bundoora), Bendigo, Sydney and online instances of the Bachelor of Business is accredited by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI). The Human Resource major available within the Melbourne (Bundoora) and Sydney instances of the Bachelor of Business is accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).

Membership for the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) and Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. PSW Opportunity

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • Degree entry: Australian bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum of a C (60%) grade point average (GPA) in the final year PLUS three years of relevant managerial experience.
  • Professional entry: Applicants do not require an undergraduate degree but must have a minimum of 8 years' relevant managerial experience 6.0.

VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0
