Graduate Certificate Women's and Gender Studies

Our certificate in Women's and Gender Studies provides contemporary perspectives on women's contributions to culture, society, politics, academic disciplines, social movements, the arts. Through an intersectional lens, you'll explore lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex peoples' experiences in relation to material and discursive systems of power. And you'll gain insights into present conditions by exploring histories of colonization and processes of global imperialism in relationship to postcolonial and transnational feminisms.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 out of a 4.0 scale to be considered for regular admission. Admitted students are expected to have undergraduate educational experiences, including general education studies, that are similar to those required for a baccalaureate at Northern Arizona University.
 
Applicants who have earned their degree(s) from an international institution must submit official transcripts directly from the university or college. The transcripts must be in the original language of the country accompanied by an English translation. If the degree awarded and the date of award is not on the transcripts, applicants must also include a separate degree certificate document.
