Bachelor of Technology (Aeronautical)

Intended for students with an interest in aviation, aeronautics, and flying who wish to have the option of expanding their studies towards becoming an accredited professional in an engineering field.

The only course of its kind in Western Australia, aeronautical technology deals with the science and technology of aviation, including aircraft systems, materials, and manufacturing technology, and aircraft operation. Areas of study include a foundation in science and mathematics, along with engineering mechanics, computer-aided design, engineering materials, and thermodynamics and fluids. It also covers specific aviation science subjects such as aircraft systems and structures, aircraft propulsion and aerodynamics. Students will also gain an understanding of the operation and performance of aircraft from the point-of-view of an aviation technologist.

The course focuses on the development of knowledge and skills relevant to the aviation industry, and, along with a sound theoretical base, includes strong elements of practical problem-solving, teamwork and project work. As a result, students will have multiple technical and transferable skill competencies and will graduate with strong analytical skills and the ability to contribute to complex projects.

Provided appropriate electives are chosen, graduating students can apply to articulate into ECU's Master of Engineering course, specializing in either Mechanical or Civil Engineering. This enables students to achieve professional engineer status after a further two years of study.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
PhD students can stay upto 4 years

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements (Band 3) for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published (where applicable) or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

AQF Cert IV;
Successfully completed 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
Special Tertiary Admissions Test;
University Preparation Course;
Indigenous University Orientation Course;
Aboriginal Student Intake Test; or
Experience Based Entry Scheme.

English competency requirements may be satisfied through the completion of one of the following (Band 3):

Year 12 English ATAR/English Literature ATAR grade C or better or equivalent; Special Tertiary Admissions Test;
IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0);
Successfully completed 1.0 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher in the UK, Ireland, USA, NZ or Canada;
University Preparation Course;
Indigenous University Orientation Course;
Aboriginal Student Intake Test;
AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree;
Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent)
