Bilingual Education, Master of Science

The Master of Science in Bilingual Education is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of bilingual education.  The degree provides students a comprehensive understanding of principal theories, research, policy and effective practices designed to meet the educational needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students.

The program is open to teachers, administrators, counselors, supervisors and other professionals interested in the education of language learners individuals. The program is also committed to preparing teachers to work in a wide variety of settings (Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language, foreign or international language).  Students work with bilingual education/ESL faculty and with partner mentor teachers in schools within and beyond the city to develop the knowledge base and skills they need to continue their teaching careers as strong and effective teachers.  Admission to the program also requires that candidates for the degree demonstrate proficiency in a second language.

Texas A&M University–San Antonio (A&M-SA) seeks an experienced senior administrator with a successful record of higher education leadership and management accomplishments to serve as its next Vice President for Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer (VPFA). The successful candidate will be forward-thinking, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and collaborative. This individual will be a trusted advisor on matters of finance, facilities, and administrative operations and serves as a key partner to the President and other Cabinet members. The VPFA has responsibility for ensuring exceptional administrative, facilities, and fiscal services. The VPFA reports directly to the University President for all matters related to the management and oversight of the business and financial affairs of the University.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have an overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.6 on a 4.0 scale, or have an average of 3.0 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework.

Students admitted must also submit official Graduate Test Scores (GMAT, GRE, MAT) by the mid-semester of their first application term of graduate courses to register for subsequent semesters.

  • TOEFL-iBT score of at least 80 (550 paper-based) or
  • TOEFL-Essentials overall score of at least 8.5 8.5
  • IELTS overall score of at least 6.0;
  • GRE Verbal score of at least 146 (400 on the old scale); or
  • GMAT Verbal score of at least 22.
