Within this highly practical degree, you'll develop a broad foundation of IT knowledge and skills, plus gain access to work-integrated learning opportunities that prepare you for a successful IT career. Designed with input from our industry partners, benefit from innovative, up-to-date and industry-relevant units, as well as in-built practical experiences.
During your studies, your core units will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of key IT and computer-based systems areas. From your second term, you will begin to study units from your chosen major. You also have the choice of a minor that complements your major and career aspirations which reflect emerging fields and industry demands within the IT sector are available.
Decide what suits you with either a project or internship in your final year. If you choose the capstone project unit, you'll enhance your collaboration skills in the production of project management artefacts typically required of a small-scale commercial project appropriate to your major. Alternatively, the internship allows you to gain real-world experience before you graduate and multiply your professional networks.

Sydney
CQUniversity Sydney is located on Kent Street in the heart of the city. It is easily accessible being just a five-minute walk to Town Hall station. With over 3000 students, CQUniversity Sydney is one of the university’s largest campuses. CQUniversity’s Townsville campus is located on the banks of the Ross Creek in the Townsville CBD and is home to over 1000 students. The campus is made up of two buildings – Building One established in NQ News House in 2015 and the new, purpose-built Building Two which opened in 2017. The campus boasts state of the art nursing and paramedic science labs, teaching spaces, study spaces and free parking.
Brisbane
CQUniversity Brisbane, located in the heart of the central business district, is a great place to study. Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
