Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies
This degree, offered by the Autism Centre of Excellence, has a multi-disciplinary, whole of life focus. In the Graduate Certificate, you will gain a foundation in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) including communication, learning style and behaviour management. This degree addresses an area of acute need as determined by the Australian Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Queensland Department of Education and Training, and the Queensland Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.

Job Opportunity Potential
You will be able to provide quality intervention and management for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You will also be well equipped to advance into leadership and specialist roles in education, health, government policy, social work and service provision for people with ASD and their families.
Educators with specialised knowledge in providing for the needs of learners with ASD are in high demand in public and private education sectors as a specialist teacher, school leader, curriculum leader or consultant. You will also have the option of completing a research masters and following a career in autism research.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for entry to the Graduate Certificate program applicants must have the following:
- bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.5 (using a 7.0 scale)
- OR a qualification leading to professional registration (for example Nursing)
- OR five years of relevant work experience.
Note: This is a postgraduate level program and students will need to be competent in oral and written communication skills to successfully complete the program.
