Bachelor of Arts (Spanish)
Spanish is the world's second most spoken language after Chinese, and is the second most used language in international communication. Speaking Spanish will allow you to communicate with more than 495 million people worldwide and will also greatly increase your employment options with many of the world's leading economies demanding Spanish speakers. Hispanic culture continues to have a global impact on film, architecture, cinema, art and literature.
What you will study
At UOW, you will study Spanish language, grammar, culture and history. Core language subjects focus on developing spoken and written language skills that can be used in real-life situations. Core cultural subjects focus on literature, linguistics, and the history, culture and society of the Spanish-speaking world.
In addition to the Spanish major, you will choose a minor or a second major from the Bachelor of Arts offerings.

PSW Opportunity
Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
