Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Single Major) (Civil Engineering)
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) will equip you with the fundamentals of engineering, both technically and via communication skills. Faculty members who drive relevant and cutting-edge research will teach you how to apply this knowledge in real situations, preparing you to engineer the future.
The first year of study allows you to learn more about engineering and its various fields. From your second year, you will focus on your chosen major, while in your third and fourth year of the major you will branch into more specialised areas.
Civil Engineering (major)
Learn to build and maintain the infrastructure of advanced modern living when you study to become a civil engineer. Using computer technologies and advanced materials, civil engineers design structures that meet the needs of a growing population while protecting the environment, reducing dangers from natural phenomena and considering the future needs of the community.
This major includes a 12-week hands-on industry experience, either in Australia or overseas, as well as a range of industry projects and other career-ready learning opportunities. From second year you have the option to complete a double major, combining two engineering disciplines. Available double major combinations include civil engineering and environmental engineering, as well as civil engineering and mining engineering.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
