Master of Literature

The MLitt is an alternative to the Ph.D. if you already have a master's degree and want to complete a substantial research project.

You can complete an MLitt in most subjects offered by the Faculty of Arts, subject to approval and availability of supervision. You may be able to further your research interests in the same subject as your first master's degree or undertake research in a new area.

PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Minimum program requirements

  • Normally this requires a completed bachelor honors degree or postgraduate diploma from New Zealand, or an acceptable equivalent postgraduate qualification from a recognized university (or similar) overseas.
  • An undergraduate degree
  • GPE 3.5
