PhD Advanced Metallic Systems CDT

The Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Metallic Systems was established in January 2009, with a £6.3M investment from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It is a partnerships between The University of Manchester and The University of Sheffield to provide a national training centre for doctoral scientists and engineers in metallurgy and related disciplines.

This programme offers a new direction for PhD study, with an exciting and interdisciplinary approach to postgraduate research training, combining a foundation year to reinforce core skills with a 3-year doctoral level thesis project.

The Centre aims to prepare the next generation of Metallic Materials Engineers with the right skills set for research leadership in a globally competitive market place.
