B.Sc (Hons) Adult Nursing

Planning a career in nursing? Our state of the art laboratories, set up to simulate hospital ward and critical care environments, are the perfect place to learn, develop and practice your skills. If you choose to go into adult nursing, you’ll help care for people over 18.

We offer the opportunity for all undergraduate Home/EU students to undertake a work placement, internship or work experience while studying a full-time course starting in September 2020.

Job Opportunity Potential

Employability
On successful completion of the course you'll gain your BSc (hons) Adult Nursing, which means you can register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You can then work as a registered nurse (adult) in medical and surgical wards or in specialist units such as A&E or intensive care. As your career progresses, you could become a district nurse, occupational health nurse, sexual health nurse or specialist nurse.

An adult nurse typically starts on a salary of £21,000, which can increase to £30,764-£98,453 in senior posts. (Take a look at our Prospects section for more detail).

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • A Level BBC/A*A* and 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4 or above (previously A*-C) or equivalent; or;
  • BTEC Extended Diploma DMM and 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4 or above (previously A*-C) or equivalent; or;
  • Access to HE Diploma in Nursing or similar with 15 Distinctions and 30 Merits at Level 3 and 15 Credits at Level 2; and GCSEs Maths and English grade 4 or above (previously A*-C) or equivalent; or;
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 112 UCAS points; and 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4 or above (previously A*-C) or equivalent.

INDIA

  • Indian Standard XII: a minimum average of 55-65% or higher (depending on exam board and LSBU course applied for)
  • 3 passes at GCE A-Level (required grades dependant on LSBU course applied for)
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points or higher
  • Accredited UK Foundation programme: minimum 55-60% or higher
  • Accredited Polytechnic/College Diploma (2 - 3 years duration) 58% or higher

NEPAL

  • Nepal Higher Secondary Education Certificate: 60% or higher
  • 3 passes at GCE A Level: minimum grades depend on LSBU course applied for
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points or higher
  • Accredited UK Foundation programme: 55-60% or higher
  • Accredited UK National Diploma: Upper or Lower Credit
  • Diploma from Tribhuvan University of 3 years duration: 50% or higher

Possible advanced entry or top-up

  • Accredited UK Higher National Diploma (Possible second year or top-up entry): Upper or Lower Credit
