Economics and Politics BA (Hons)

An ideal course for those who want to explore how the interconnected structures, theories and policies of politics and economics influence the world today.

With an emphasis on applying theory to the real world, this degree will give you a thorough knowledge of the economic environment and how policy is formulated. It will give you an understanding of how political choices, processes and ideas shape government and public life.

Master the foundations of economic and political theory alongside a range of specialist modules, including British Government and Politics, Business Research and Analysis, Public Policy Making, Institutions, and Financial Econometrics, and Power, Politics, and Morality.

The course will also help you develop transferable skills for employment such as commercial awareness, communication, team working, independent research, and critical analysis.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Entry criteria

  • A typical offer is 104 UCAS points. You need to study at least two subjects at A Level or equivalent (eg BTEC)
  • Five GCSEs at grades A–C including English Language and Maths
  • Pass Access with 30 Level 3 credits at Merit (or equivalent)
  • English (Language or Literature) and Maths GCSE required as separate qualifications at grade C
  • We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course
  • International Baccalaureate: 24+ Points

India

  • Minimum of 65% average in your four best subjects (excluding Hindi) in Standard 12. We may also check your standard 10 results in English and Maths.
  • For Engineering courses, you will need a minimum of 60% in Maths. 

2nd year - 3rd-year Undergraduate:

  • Entry to year 2 or 3 may be possible. You will need to supply detailed information including courses taken, grades achieved, syllabus, and a grading guide.

Sri Lanka

  • 55-65% in three A-levels, depending on the course you choose.

  • A-levels or a recognized Foundation Course
