Studying Mechanical Engineering in GMIT
As a student on the Mechanical Engineering course in GMIT, you will build a fundamental knowledge of engineering science including physics, electrical, chemical and materials engineering.
You will learn how to design, manufacture and maintain processes and products that perform efficiently and reliably in everyday use, by focusing on three main areas:
- Design using 3D modeling and simulation software,
- Manufacturing technologies and the integration of CAD/CAM,
- Automation from process control to the programming of robotic arms.
You will spend 50% of your time in laboratory learning through practical activities in small groups, and 50% informal lectures. You will also complete group and individual projects, and have an opportunity to go on work placement in Year Three.
