MDiet Dietetics
As a Dietitian you will be a registered health professional who uses knowledge about food, science and the human body in health and disease to educate and give practical advice to patients, colleagues, clients, carers and the general public. You will have the ability to work with patients to change lives, and contribute to the welfare of society.
This course will allow you to become a clinically adept dietitian, with skills underpinned by a thorough theoretical knowledge and understanding of nutritional science, dietetics, public health and health promotion. Your engagement with interdisciplinary team-working, leadership, service improvement, and research will extend your competence and enhance your employability prospects.
You will develop skills in empowering individuals, groups and communities to change diet and lifestyle behaviours, and will practice your skills through simulated and inter-professional learning opportunities. Uniquely, you will have the chance to select an elective module, and to earn additional qualifications as you complete the course.

PLACEMENTS
Optional, paid, 3-month (summer) or 12-month placements can be undertaken in this course. You will be supported by a dedicated Placements Coordinator within the school who oversees the placement module. You will also be assigned a Placement Supervisor who will carry out regular visits to your placement provider and meet with you and your employer. The confidence and experience you could acquire during a placement will make you more employable and put you one step ahead of the competition when you graduate.

- SQA Higher: BBBC and two further passes to include English and Maths at National 5 grade C or above if not held at Higher.
