Career Opportunities
Graduates have the opportunity to work with small businesses through to multi-national adventure tourism companies. The Diploma prepares them for the tourism, eco-tourism and adventure tourism sectors. After graduating they can specialise in operations management, marketing, sales, eco-tourism, human resources, finance, training, business development and event planning.
On course completion, students will have the skills, knowledge and attitude required to work in a team leadership role, with the potential to advance through to a management role and the knowledge to establish their own business ventures.

Starting your career
The knowledge and experience you gain at QRC can be applied across the spectrum. Graduate roles are diverse and include marketing and communications, sales, customer service, operations, food and beverage, eco-tourism, health and safety, human resources, technology, and finance.
Industry Internships
Putting theory into practice is one of the highlights of an education at QRC. Our diploma students complete a fully paid 9-month internship as part of their qualification, giving them invaluable work experience and professional mentoring with a successful hospitality or tourism business, either in New Zealand or overseas.
PSW Opportunity
- During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
- After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
- After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
All students must be 18 years or older upon commencement of either program.
Both of QRC’s diplomas are accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) as Level 6 qualifications.
To gain entry into these programs, you must satisfy the following criteria:
If studying in NZ students need to attain
- 48 credits over four level 2 subjects including 4 reading and writing English credits.
- 10 level 1 (or higher) credits in Numeracy.
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Students: At least 3 passes in SL subjects including Mathematics and English
- Cambridge/CIE Students: CIE (Cambridge International Exam) candidates must attain at least 60 UCAS points (from the UCAS Tariff) over two or more subjects and have IGCSE Mathematics Grade D or better and AS English Language or AS English Literature with Grade E or better.
- Students studying outside of NZ must have successfully passed 12 years of schooling equivalent to the above NZ requirements.
- IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 with no less than 6.0 in speaking and 5.5 in any other band or equivalent
- Pearsons Test (PTE): Overall score of 56 with no communicative skill score below 50
INDIA
- Overall average of at least 55% in their best four academic subjects in 12th (10 + 2) excluding languages
- Passes in 12 Maths (or Science equivalents)
- Students with 75% or higher in English in final year high school to be CONSIDERED for IELTS exemption (can also be determined in an interview).
SRI LANKA

Students enrolling in either the Diploma of Adventure Tourism Management, the Diploma of Hospitality Management or the Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management need to achieve the following:
IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 with no less than 6.0 in speaking and 5.5 in any other band or equivalent
Pearsons Test (PTE): Overall score of 50 with no communicative skill score below 42
