Graduate Diploma in Business (GDBus)
The Graduate Diploma in Business (GDBus) is designed for graduates of a bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in a discipline other than business who wish to achieve a level of competency and an advanced qualification in business.
It also caters for those with a bachelor’s degree in one area of business who wish to broaden their knowledge in another. Some students may wish to use this qualification as a pathway to postgraduate study in business or related disciplines. Others may wish to use it to enhance an existing qualification for a management career in business.

PSW Opportunity
Level 7 (Bachelor’s degree)
- Duration: Equal to length of study (typically up to 3 years)
- Requirement: minimum 30 weeks full time study in NZ
Level 7 (Graduate Diploma)
Eligible for PSWV
Conditions:
- Must also hold a Bachelor’s degree (NZ or overseas)
- Duration: Up to length of study (typically 1 year)
Level 8 (Postgraduate Diploma)
- Duration: Equal to length of study, OR
- Up to 3 years in some cases (if part of higher qualification pathway)
Level 9 and 10 (Master’s degree and Doctoral degree)
- Duration: 3 years
- Condition: Must study at least 30 weeks in New Zealand
- Most eligible international students can work up to 25 hours per week during study and full-time during scheduled breaks, only if their student visa includes work rights.
- Foundation, pathway and short courses have different rules.
- Not allowed for part time students.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor degree at least equivalent to New Zealand pass standard; and
- Candidates without a Bachelor degree but with an appropriate mix of a lesser qualification and work experience may be approved for special admission by the Academic Board AND
- IELTS 6.0 academic (with no band less than 5.5) / TOEFL iBT 60 (with a writing score of 18) / PToE academic score of 50 with no band lower than 42 / NZCEL (Academic) L4
