Textile Design BA

This degree combines practice based textile design modules with theoretical study of design and technology, as well as providing key academic skills such as research and critical analysis.

Core modules will introduce you to the principles and practices of textile design. You’ll also gain an insight into the historical and cultural contexts of the field of design as well as and a working knowledge of marketing, management and sustainability within the textile industry.. As you progress, you’ll specialise in either structured textiles, including knitted, woven, stitched and manipulated textiles, or digital textiles, where you’ll explore surface pattern for textiles, wall coverings and other surfaces. In each pathway you’ll have the opportunity to focus on designs for fashion or interiors. You will develop the skills required by employers enabling you to compete in a dynamic and fast changing industry.
