BEng (Hons) Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
The BEng in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence has an emphasis on AI and software development for robotics systems that must operate effectively in the real world.
The course content covers both robotics hardware and software in equal measures.
The course delivery has a high practical "hands-on" approach, with practical project-based modules included at all levels.
This new award in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence builds on existing research and teaching expertise in the School of Engineering and Computer Science and addresses a growing demand by government and employers for graduates with this range of knowledge and skills. The award is structured with a strong emphasis on practical work to build your skills and confidence in the usage and application of contemporary Robotics and AI technologies. You will learn the elements needed to build robots, from simple electronic circuitry, software engineering, and control, to high-level robot intelligence and will learn how to develop robotic systems and bring the learning to life.
Work placement
A work placement year option (or Study Abroad year) is available after year 2 of the respective BEng or MEng awards courses.
Campus Information
College Lane Campus
The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.

- BCC - Requires Maths A level. Other A Levels may come from a selection of either Engineering or Technology, Science, Design, Computing, or Business related subjects. General studies/critical thinking not accepted.
BTEC
- DMM - Requires Extended Diploma in Engineering (DMM) to include Distinction in Further Maths
GCSE: Grade 4/C in English, Mathematics, and Science.
Foundation
- Completion of the Standard XII Certificate with 50% or above
- IELTS 4.5 with no less than 4.0 in any band
Undergraduate (year 1)
- Completion of the Standard XII Certificate with 60-70% depending on points tariff required by the UH course. Some courses may require specific subjects
- IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band for standard courses – some courses require higher
- Standard XII English with 65% will also be accepted
Undergraduate (year 2/3)
- Depending on qualifications and course - usually require 2/3 year Diploma post-Standard XII to be considered
