BSc (Hons) Psychology

This fascinating degree gives you a grounding in all major areas of psychology and our graduates are thoroughly prepared for employment, postgraduate research and professional training. Our Psychology department is one of the largest of any British university, offering a stimulating environment with high-profile, research-active staff and exceptionally well-equipped labs and computer facilities. In addition to covering core psychology topics, there are a number of specialist modules including individual differences, cyberpsychology, non-verbal behaviour, and forensic and clinical psychology.

Work placement

Students have the opportunity to undertake four-week work experience during their second-year. A reflective report and poster presentation of the work experience is then undertaken in the final year. This is a good opportunity for students to obtain experience in their chosen setting and sometimes leads to future job opportunities.

Study abroad

If you choose, you can apply to study an optional, additional year between your second and third year at one of our partner universities. The opportunity to study abroad is through the University's study abroad programme. Study abroad opportunities are available worldwide and in Europe under the Erasmus+ Programme.

PSW Opportunity

2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

UCAS Points

A Level

BCC - Requires Maths A level. Other A Levels may come from a selection of either Engineering or Technology, Science, Design, Computing, or Business related subjects. General studies/critical thinking not accepted.

BTEC

DMM - Requires Extended Diploma in Engineering (DMM) to include Distinction in Further Maths

GCSE: Grade 4/C in English, Mathematics, and Science.

Foundation

Completion of the Standard XII Certificate with 50% or above
IELTS 4.5 with no less than 4.0 in any band

Undergraduate (year 1)

Completion of the Standard XII Certificate with 60-70% depending on points tariff required by the UH course. Some courses may require specific subjects
IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band for standard courses – some courses require higher
Standard XII English with 65% will also be accepted

Undergraduate (year 2/3)

Depending on qualifications and course - usually require 2/3 year Diploma post-Standard XII to be considered
IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band for standard courses – some courses require higher
