B.S. Health, Wellness and Fitness
UW-Stout's Kinesiology and Health Department's Bachelor of Science in Health, Wellness and Fitness (HWF) offers two concentrations to provide you with the skills and expertise to build a rewarding career as a health promotion specialist, health educator, community health workers, health educator, corporate wellness coach and health researcher.
According to U.S. News & World Report, there is a growing demand for fitness and wellness coordinators with the knowledge and skills to help people develop and sustain healthier lifestyles. We prepare you to help people implement their health goals, sustain life-changing behaviors and manage healthy progress.
The Health, Wellness and Fitness program prepares students to enter the healthcare arena as preventative healthcare workers. Students become knowledgeable of the causes of the major controllable health care issues in society today and into the future. They gain the skills to assist others to develop healthier lifestyles to combat major controllable health issues such as obesity, diabetes, various coronary diseases and conditions. Students learn business management skills to aid entry into the profession. The program integrates the professional domains of nutrition, fitness, health education, business procedures and management and community health to prepare prevention specialists.

PSW Opportunity
Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.
Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).
STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
The English proficiency requirement may be waived for applicants from English-speaking countries. This will be determined by the Admissions Office after you have applied.
Ways to show evidence of English proficiency:
- Official TOEFL score: Minimum iBT (or MyBest) score of 70, or minimum paper-based score of 525.
- Official IELTS score, or IELTS One Skill Retake: Minimum score of 6.0
- Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic): Minimum score of 48
- Duolingo English Test (DET):
- Minimum score of 115 overall (minimum sub/sectional scores of 90 or higher)
- UW-Stout's English as a Second Language Institute (ESLI) will require that students who submit Duolingo English Test scores:
- complete additional testing conducted by the ESLI, and
- enroll in additional ESL courses, as applicable.
- Successful completion of UW-Stout's English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
- Earned transfer credit from a regionally accredited school equivalent to UW-Stout's English 101, with a grade of C or higher.
