This one year interdisciplinary program will deepen your knowledge of environmental health risks and develop your skills to create viable solutions. Population growth, globalisation, and climate change are among the world’s most challenging issues of our time, and our governments, industry and communities are under pressure to adapt and apply sustainable solutions.

Our Environmental Health Sciences programs will equip you with the knowledge and skills to identify and resolve complex environmental health risks and you'll learn to confidently communicate the risks and mitigation options to a range of stakeholders across all sectors.

You'll gain the skills to influence, advocate for and manage effective public health responses. During the program, you'll complete advanced-level courses that cover key areas of environmental health risk assessment and communication. A range of elective courses are also available, which provide the opportunity to develop your own specialist knowledge.

You'll graduate with a respected qualification, or you can use your graduate diploma to further your postgraduate studies. Because these courses are taken from the Master of Environmental Health Sciences, you may be eligible to receive credit for your studies.

Campus Information

St Lucia

Situated on 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land, UQ’s main campus is a vibrant mix of majestic sandstone buildings and contemporary architecture, landscaped gardens and lakes. Fanning out from the heritage-listed Great Court, you’ll find modern teaching and research facilities, including laboratories, lecture theatres, and Queensland’s largest research library. The expansive grounds are also home to a variety of sporting facilities, museums, cafes, and those famous Jacaranda trees. The St Lucia campus is only seven kilometres from Brisbane’s city centre, making it an appealing place to study, work or visit.

Gatton

Gatton, UQ’s rural campus, is located in the Lockyer Valley, 87 kilometres west of Brisbane’s city centre, and halfway between Ipswich and Toowoomba. On this sprawling campus, which dates back to 1897, you’ll find world-class teaching and research facilities in agriculture, animals, veterinary science and the environment.

Herston

Herston is UQ’s core campus for clinical health teaching and research. Located just minutes from the Brisbane CBD, Herston is home to UQ’s Medicine and Public Health schools, the UQ Centre for Clinical Research, Oral Health Centre, and the research activities of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Approved degree or equivalent in any discipline; or

GCAJI; or

GCAJT; and

Have completed the school's aptitude test in spoken and written Japanese and English to the standard set by the Executive Dean.

Candidates must sit and pass the Aptitude Test set by the School of Languages and Cultures before being admitted to the program. A fee may apply for the Aptitude Test. More information about the aptitude test, and test dates can be found on the School of Languages and Cultures website.
