Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)

This degree will put you on the path to a career in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or nutraceutical industries. You will take specialist courses in areas such as pharmacy management, complementary and alternative medicine, and pharmacology. 

You will study on our Gold Coast campus, positioned within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, across the road from the Gold Coast University Hospital. Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

The University's Bachelor Honours Degree (AQF Level 8) Policy will apply.

Students who have completed Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (1395) are eligible to apply for this program. Students in this program will undertake the 30 credit point dissertation in Years 3 and 4 as determined by the Program Director and subject to the following criteria:

  • achievement of a minimum GPA of 5.0 for all coursework at the completion of Year 2 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (1395); and
  • achievement of a minimum grade of 5.0 for 2013AHS Research Methods and Statistics.

The Program Director will take the following into consideration when assessing applications for admission:

  • the suitability of the proposed dissertation topic; and
  • the resources available to support the candidature including the availability of appropriate supervision.
